DHUH Workshop: Getting Started on Dobro
- Americana
- In-Person Workshops
- Instrumental
**THIS IS AN IN-PERSON WORKSHOP**
The Dobro, or resonator guitar, was invented in California in 1926 by three Slovakian brothers looking for a way to make a louder acoustic guitar. With its wide tonal palette and incredible expressiveness, the Dobro has become a staple of modern bluegrass music.
This workshop will be taught at the level of the students who attend and may cover topics like:
How to get started on Dobro
What to look for when purchasing an instrument
How to convert your existing acoustic guitar into a lap-style instrument (a temporary, non-damaging adjustment)
The basic techniques you’ll need to play on your own or accompany others
I’ll be more than happy to answer any and all questions that come up. All levels welcome—no prior experience necessary!
This workshop will be 60 minutes and held on April 20th from 1:00pm-2:00pm
Please note: The workshop will be held at The Passim School of Music which is located at 26 Church St. Cambridge, MA. Classrooms are located on the third floor and, unfortunately, we do not have an elevator.
Limited to 15 students (18 yrs of age or older); Pre-sales are highly encouraged! Online sale ends 2 hours before the workshop begins. Tickets can be purchased at the door before the workshop begins. 5 students are required for this workshop to meet. If a workshop is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will be notified and receive a full refund.
