Heather Quay
My goal is to have my paintings capture the feeling of a particular time and place. I have always been fascinated by the way that painters portray the quality and temperature of light. As a pastel painter, I continue to be drawn to scenes where the light is the central character. Whatever I am painting – from landscapes, both natural and manmade, to figures, animals, and portraits – I’m always striving to render the light I see onto the surface of my artwork.
Heather’s award-winning pastel paintings have been included in juried exhibits across New England and online. She is an Associate Member of the Pastel Society of America, and a Signature Member of the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, the Central Massachusetts Pastel Society, the Connecticut Pastel Society, and the Maryland Pastel Society. She is also a member of the Pastel Society of New Hampshire, the North River Arts Association, and the Lyme Art Association.
In addition, Heather is an accomplished performer and singer/songwriter. As one half of the folk duo Quay & O’Conor, she has performed at Club Passim and a variety of other venues. Heather also sings with The Loomers, a folk-rock band fronted by her husband, Jon Svetkey, and for the past ten or more years she and Jon have been performing their original music with a group called The Yellow Room. Albums by The Yellow Room and Quay & O’Conor are available digitally on www.loomers.com.
A portion of all art sales will be donated to Passim.
