Do you love to play songs and tunes but struggle to learn new ones quickly? Do you want to get better at playing with other musicians? Does jam-etiquette intimidate you?
Each week, we will learn new songs and/or tunes every week as a vehicle to practice playing with other musicians. Our class repertoire will span the breadth of bluegrass, gospel, traditional old-time, neo-trad, contemporary americana, classic country, ballads of the English, Irish, New England variety, and shape note songs. We will discuss tips, tricks, and tools to make jamming and sounding good while playing with others easier.
This is an intermediate class. Familiarity with open chords, simple rhythms, basic melodies, and have *some* experience playing songs is recommended. All you really need is a love for playing songs with other people who also love songs!
This class meets on Mar. 21, 28, Apr. 4, 11, 18, and 25.
