Sitting around and waiting for inspiration to strike is not a good way to write songs, but it's how many of us end up spending our time. In this course, we'll explore ways to move past writer's block. If you're struggling to come up with ideas for new songs, or you've got dozens of half-finished songs lying around, this class may be for you. We'll do writing exercises and prompts designed to get your creative energy flowing. We'll also discuss lyrics, chords, melodies, and song forms, both by examining well-known songs and by discussing students' compositions in a supportive and constructive way. Hopefully, all of these new ideas will help you bring your finished songs into the world!
This class meets on Mar. 27, Apr. 3, 10, 17, 24, May 1.
