‚ÄčMiss Maybell and Slimpickin’s are a musical duo based in New England. They play American Roots, Jazz, Blues, Country, and Ragtime music from the 1920-40s, as well as classic original tunes. In addition to their regular calendar of gigs throughout New England, they have been featured on The Cold River Radio Show, and aired on several New England Radio Stations. Wherever they play they bring smiles to the faces of those around them, and are guaranteed to be like no other band you have ever seen before.

Slimpickin’s has been playing guitar for more than fifteen years, and with his undying love for old music has truly mastered the classic finger-style blues guitar of some of the most amazing  pickers in early American music, such as Mississippi John Hurt, Robert Johnson, and Big Bill Bronzy. When he plays his guitar, it is as if a piano has magically came alive on the fret board!  He also sings and composes original music with a classic ragtime flair.

Miss Maybell has always had a deep love of music and has been singing , and playing one instrument or another for her whole life. She has a immense attachment to the great woman singers of the past such as Bessie Smith , Ella Fitzgerald , and Billie Holiday. With a Deep Contralto Voice and a firm musicality, she is fully equipped to execute the challenge of singing the great songs of the past. She also plays Banjo, Washboard, Guitar and Kazoo, while stomping away on her suitcase kick-drum. The Kazoo she plays is a vintage piece, from the 1930’s that almost sounds like a trumpet!

Needless to say Miss Maybell & Slimpickin’s are not only technicians of quite difficult music they also know how to make the audience have a fun time!

As Dustin LaDale, accomplished singer songwriter put it:

“Have I ever felt I went back in time…. an amazing duo, both pretty & young in 2014 playing Ragtime music! The fancy guitar picking' of Slimpickin's soothes in time with precious deep, tonic, vocals from Miss Maybell. Such a fitting name for both……If you want to experience nostalgic, sweet, reminiscent Ragtime music, follow these two everywhere. Guarantee you'll hear their, 'Baby Please Don't Go' in your shoes all day. Don't worry you'll be back for more New Orleans soul.”

Kali Stoddard-Imari grew up in the North East Kindom of Vermont playing around with poetry, hip hop and chorus until he picked up the guitar at 17. His attention was always rooted in music, but the guitar gave him insight and opened his eyes and ears to a new world of musical creation. His passion grew as he fused his musical past with Americana, Island and Folk, stripping him of a particular genre and transforming him into an eclectic singer songwriter.

In 2010, he moved with his family out of Vermont and into Boston in search of more people to spread music too. He is now based in the Boston area where he lives with his wife Jennifer, and his children Nia, Asha, and Sekou. His family and the necessity of positive experiences inspire him to create music for the people. “I strive to create more than Feel Good Music, I create Get Good Music. Music is medicine for the masses. When we come together, we treat the ailments in our society and communities. This is something I cannot ignore, nor should anyone else.”

He moves all throughout New England and New York, playing community events and festivals and opening up for acts like Adam Ezra Group (2013 New England Music Awards-"Band of the Year"), Taj Mahal and the Taj Mahal Trio (Grammy Award winning blues legend), and Martin Sexton (one of the most talked-about arrivals on the "new folk" acoustic music scene and hard working do it yourself artist).  His debut self-titled album "KALI" came out in Nov of 2014.
